The Tortoise King

Much to my distress I could not find an image I was looking for from "The Lion King" song "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" which ends with all of the animals dancing on each other's heads. This Youtube frame is the closest I could get, so unless you've never seen The Lion King you don't have to watch the video to see what I'm talking about (which is in Japanese...). This just kind of sums it up.

This is Moo, the Tortoise King of my back yard.

Grace, in a comment, reminded me of an image that I had in my now low voltage failing synapses but couldn't bring out of the fog...
This is from the "Town Musicians of Bremen"

There's just something about animals stacked up that is just well, ... cool. Maybe its a guy thing.

  1. Dude, you have a pet armadillo? That's pretty darn cool!

  2. El cuerpo, Welll...its stuffed (like all the other animals. ( couldn't fit the saxaphone playing bullfrog on it too) but still one of my pets.
I guess I'll have to do a post about my "Repisa de las Cosas Muertos" some day. And, Dude, you need to post more on YOUR blog, I like your world and you're a natural writer. If we lived around each other I think we'd be hanging out a lot. :)

  3. Those animals being stuffed answers a question that was stuck in the back of my head and wasn't quite able to work its way to the front of my head, namely, "How did he get all those animals to stand still while he took the picture?" LOL!!

I'm going to start blogging again real soon. Thanks for the encouragement! If I'm ever passing through Phoenix or you're ever passing through Southern Illinois, we should TOTALLY hang out! Your podcasts, along with most everything else on Ancient Faith Radio, have been a blessing to me in these last few months since I discovered them.

  4. El cuerpo, LOL! The hard part was getting Moo to stand still. We did that by giving her a zuchinni treat that she is eating and stacking the animals REALLY quickly. It took three of us to set it up and snap the picture. I'm sure I'm going to have some more fun stuff to do with Moo in the future too.

Good to know you are in Illinois and not Nicaragua. Beers on the group W bench would be awesome.

  5. I don't know about Lion King, but your image made me think of the old fairy tale of the Bremen Town Musicians. Found a Wikipedia link -- check out the image at the right of the page -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_Musicians_of_Bremen

  6. Thanks Grace! I had a vague recollection of that image from a children's book years and years ago. I'm updating the post with the picture.

  7. Brains are funny things, eh? I was a little surprised that I remembered the fairy tale name almost exactly. It wasn't till I read the synopsis that I remembered the story. But that image of the stacked animals is really a keeper.
